A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO EDUCATION.
BE IT
ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
Section 1. The legislature finds that alternative learning centers in the department of education help to support educating students who are challenged by factors outside of the classroom. This measure would support those students by offering a safe space program within alternative learning centers that would provide twenty-four hours per day seven days per week emergency crisis services.
The purpose of this Act is to establish a safe space program within alternative learning centers in the department of education to support students by providing twenty-four hours per day seven days per week emergency crisis services.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 to establish a safe space program within alternative learning centers in the department of education to support students by providing twenty-four hours per day seven days per week emergency crisis services.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of human services for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
