A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO aGRICULTURAL THEFT AND VANDALISM PILOT pROJECT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that Act 217, Session Laws of Hawaii (2019) implemented a two-year pilot project to examine and assess the effectiveness of prosecuting agricultural theft and agricultural vandalism cases in the counties of Hawaii and Maui.

     The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funding for the second year of the pilot project.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $200,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the agricultural theft and vandalism pilot project.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of agriculture for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
