A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO BEES.
BE IT
ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 46, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part IV to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§46- Beehive; swarm; disposition. Any
public facility or entity that receives state or county funding and discovers a
beehive or swarm on its property shall contract with a beekeeper or pest control
operator for removal. Destruction of the
beehive shall only occur as a last resort. For the purposes of this section, "pest control
operator" has the same meaning as that provided in section 460J-1."
SECTION 2. Chapter 171, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part I to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§171- Beehive; swarm; disposition. Any public facility or entity that receives state or county funding and discovers a beehive or swarm on its property shall contract with a beekeeper or pest control operator for removal. Destruction of the beehive shall only occur as a last resort. For the purposes of this section, "pest control operator" has the same meaning as that provided in section 460J-1."
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on December 31, 2033.
