A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to transportation network companies.
BE IT
ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to authorize counties to levy and collect a county per-ride fee for rides provided by transportation network companies.
SECTION 2. Chapter 46, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part I to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§46- Transportation network companies; county
per-ride fees. (a) Each county may establish a schedule for
per-ride fees assessed to transportation network companies. A county electing to establish this fee shall
do so by ordinance.
(b) The per-ride fees shall be assessed in addition to any other tax or assessment already imposed by state or county law."
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
