A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Twenty-seventh REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $2,650,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the twenty-seventh representative district, as follows:

1. Kauluwela elementary school

Plans and construction for the repavement of the school's main parking lot and gravel parking lot areas.

Plans $50,000

Construction $300,000

Total funding $350,000

The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

2. Kauluwela elementary school

Plans, design, and construction for the installation of a covering and roof for the walkway starting from the front of the school parking lot by the main office to S-building, to E-building, and to D-building.

Plans $150,000

Design $150,000

Construction $350,000

Total funding $650,000

The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

3. Kauluwela elementary school

Plans, design, construction, and equipment for the installation of air conditioning in the school cafeteria.

Plans $100,000

Design $150,000

Construction $250,000

Equipment $400,000

Total funding $900,000

The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

4. Kauluwela elementary school

Plans, design, construction, and equipment for the installation of two new playgrounds; one playground located behind D-building and one playground located by S-building.

Plans $50,000

Design $50,000

Construction $100,000

Equipment $250,000

Total funding $450,000

The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

5. Lanakila elementary school

Plans, construction, and equipment for the replacement of the bell and phone system.

Plans $100,000

Construction $100,000

Equipment $100,000

Total funding $300,000

The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2022, shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
