A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to honolua bay.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The legislature finds that Honolua Bay is a unique treasure for both the people of Maui and the State of Hawaii. As a marine bay conservation area and one of the top surf spots in the world, Honolua Bay attracts millions of visitors and residents.
The legislature recognizes that, while nonprofit companies and the visitor industry have historically paid to provide and maintain portable toilets and other hygienic amenities at Honolua Bay, this private funding is scheduled to end.
Accordingly, the purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds to provide and maintain basic hygienic necessities at Honolua Bay.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the maintenance of Honolua Bay on the island of Maui.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
