A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§302A-   Hawaiian language; assistant superintendent position; established. There is established within the department one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) permanent assistant superintendent position for Hawaiian language."

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) permanent assistant superintendent position in the department of education for Hawaiian language.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval; provided that section 2 shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
