A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Thirty-eighth REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.
BE IT
ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $69,170,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the thirty-eighth representative district, as follows:
1. August Ahrens elementary school, Oahu
Construction for whole school renovation, ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.
Construction $1,350,000
Total funding $1,350,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
2. August Ahrens elementary school, Oahu
Design and construction for new classroom building; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.
Design $200,000
Construction $2,100,000
Total funding $2,300,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
3. August Ahrens elementary school, Oahu
Equipment for ground and site improvements and appurtenances for covered playground area.
Equipment $5,000,000
Total funding $5,000,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
4. Waipahu elementary school, Oahu
Design and construction for cafeteria expansion renovation and improvements; ground site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.
Design $500,000
Construction $12,000,000
Total funding $12,500,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
5. Waipahu elementary school, Oahu
Equipment and appurtenances for air conditioning for classrooms; ground and site improvements.
Equipment $120,000
Total funding $120,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
6. Waipahu high school, Oahu
Construction for phase two of new integrated academic classroom building including eleven general classrooms.
Construction $18,500,000
Total funding $18,500,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
7. Waipahu high school, Oahu
Construction of new portables for department of educations' administration staff due to need of current space for increased number of students and staff.
Construction $3,000,000
Total funding $3,000,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
8. Waipahu high school, Oahu
Construction phase two of campus-wide exterior painting of buildings.
Construction $450,000
Total funding $450,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
9. Waipahu high school, Oahu
Design and construction to re-key all locks on exterior doors throughout campus.
Design $50,000
Construction $250,000
Total funding $300,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
10. Waipahu intermediate school, Oahu
Additional design and construction to complete DREAMS building.
Design $350,000
Construction $25,300,000
Total funding $25,650,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2022, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
