A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO COUNTY SIDEWALKS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 46, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§46- Required sidewalks. Any county-owned street along which are six or more homes shall include one or more sidewalks."

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $1,000,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 for grants-in-aid to the counties for the purpose of building sidewalks along existing county-owned streets pursuant to section 1 of this Act, to be allocated as follows:

(1) $ to the county of Hawaii;

(2) $ to the city and county of Honolulu;

(3) $ to the county of Kauai; and

(4) $ to the county of Maui.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the respective counties for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2019.
