The purpose of this informational briefing is to discuss the circumstances, timeline of events, departmental policy & procedure, and subsequent response of the leadership of the Department of Public Safety to several recent, high profile events which have occurred in which the Department of Public Safety was involved. These events include, but are not limited to the Maui Community Correctional Center riot as well as the fatal shooting on State Capitol grounds.
