Appropriates $500,000 for each year of the fiscal biennium to be expended by the University of Hawaii to support student mentors and tutors at community colleges.

RELATING TO LOAN REPAYMENT FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS.

Expands eligible health care professionals under the health care provider loan repayment program administered through the John A. Burns school of medicine to include licensed social workers, advanced practice registered nurses, and registered nurses.  Appropriates funds for the Hawaii rural health care provider loan repayment program administered through the John A. Burns School of Medicine of the University of Hawaii at Manoa; provided that the funds are matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis by a private or another public source.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD2)

RELATING TO THE PUNA DISTANCE LEARNING CENTER.

Appropriates funds for a post-secondary distance learning center within Hawaii Community College to be located in the Puna district.  Requires the University of Hawaii to submit a report on the Puna distance learning center to the Legislature.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD1)

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
