Your Committee on Economic Development & Business, to which was referred S.C.R. No. 161 entitled:

"SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION DESIGNATING JULY 20, 2019, AS "TRANQUILITY BASE DAY" IN HAWAII TO HONOR THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE APOLLO 11 LUNAR LANDING AT TRANQUILITY BASE AND URGING THE UNITED NATIONS EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC, AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATION TO INCLUDE TRANQUILITY BASE AND ASSOCIATED ARTIFACTS ON THE WORLD HERITAGE LIST,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to:

(1) Encourage the State's citizens to celebrate "Tranquility Base Day" to honor the 50^th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing, the contributions of people and places in Hawaii to the Apollo program in general and the Apollo 11 mission in particular, and the importance of this notable milestone in the history of Hawaii, the United States, and the world; and

(2) Urge the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization to include Tranquility Base and associated artifacts on the World Heritage List, along with other renowned landmarks, including the Pyramids at Giza, the Great Wall of China, Independence Hall, and the Statue of Liberty.

The Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism; Department of Accounting and General Services; and the University of Hawai‘i System supported this measure.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Economic Development & Business that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of S.C.R. No. 161 and recommends that it be referred to your Committee on Finance.
