Your Committee on Human Services & Homelessness, to which was referred S.B. No. 492, S.D. 2, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to:

(1) Require the Auditor to conduct a performance audit of the Disability Determination Branch of the Department of Human Services and present its findings and recommendations to the Legislature; and

(2) Appropriate funds for the performance audit.

Hawaii Disability Legal Services, LLLC and a few individuals supported this measure. The Department of Human Services provided comments.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Human Services & Homelessness that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 492, S.D. 2, and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be referred to your Committee on Legislative Management.
