Sir:
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 901, H.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO GOVERNMENT PUBLICATIONS,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to:
(1) Reduce the number of paper copies of government publications required to be deposited with the State Publications Distribution Center to two paper copies; and
(2) Require state and county agencies to deposit an electronic copy with the State Publications Distribution Center in a format as prescribed by the State Librarian.
The Office of Information Practices, Department of Accounting and General Services, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism, Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Department of Education, University of Hawai‘i System, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, Office of Enterprise Technology Services, and Department of Transportation submitted testimony in support of this measure. The Hawaii State Public Library System, Department of Taxation, and Department of Land and Natural Resources provided comments.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 901, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
