Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 761, H.D. 2, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO CONSUMER PROTECTION,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to specify that businesses may provide proof of purchase only in electronic form to a member of a frequent shopping program, unless the member asks for proof in paper form.
The O‘ahu
County Committee on Legislative Priorities of the Democratic Party of Hawai‘i
submitted testimony in support of the measure.
The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Hawaii Petroleum
Marketers Association, Retail Merchants of Hawaii, and Hawaii Food Industry
Association offered comments on the measure.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 761, H.D. 2, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
