A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that the funds expended by the university of Hawaii and the accompanying contractual obligations it must adhere to when entering into long-term leases are matters of statewide concern.

     SECTION 2.  Chapter 304A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part V, subpart A to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§304A-    Capital improvement projects; long-term leases with intent to purchase.  The university shall include all long-term leases the university enters into with the intent to purchase as part of its capital improvement projects budget request for the appropriate fiscal year."

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2030.
