THIRTIETH LEGISLATURE, 2019
STATE OF HAWAII

WHEREAS, Friends of the Library of Hawaii honors librarians, library employees, volunteers, and legislators who selflessly go above and beyond to improve our library system; these individuals provide exemplary service, dedicate countless hours of time, and offer strong community support for our libraries; and

WHEREAS, the Librarian of the Year and Excellence in Service awards recognize Hawaii State Public Library System librarians and employees who are outstanding staff members; and

WHEREAS, these individuals are nominated by the public, then interviewed and carefully chosen by the Friends of the Library of Hawaii's Librarian of the Year/Excellence in Service Committee; the awards are presented to the selected individuals each February at the Friends of the Library of Hawaii's annual meeting at the Hawaii State Library; and

WHEREAS, SARA KAMIBAYASHI, the branch manager at Naalehu Public Library, was selected as the 2019 Librarian of the Year for her significant and positive impact on the library through the implementation of new programs and volunteer opportunities for community members to engage in; and

WHEREAS, MONA TAVARES, a library technician at Hilo Public Library, was selected as the 2019 Excellence in Service Award recipient for her dedication to helping the library obtain new technologies to increase access to technology for community members; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2019, that this body hereby commends, congratulates, and honors SARA KAMIBAYASHI and MONA TAVARES for their outstanding accomplishments, community involvement, and much-deserved recognition, and extends to them its sincere mahalo and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
