HOUSE RESOLUTION

requesting the department of transportation to conduct a feasibility study on universal PILOT badges for airports in the state.

WHEREAS, there are approximately fifteen commercial, passenger, and general use airports in the State of Hawaii; and

WHEREAS, many of these airports require pilots to hold separate badges, specific to each airport, to enter the premises; and

WHEREAS, the process of obtaining and renewing multiple badges is time consuming and expensive, requiring several background checks and annual fees; and

WHEREAS, a universal state airport badge would be more economical and efficient for pilots, thus facilitating easier intrastate travel; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2019, that the Department of Transportation is requested to conduct a study on the feasibility and potential costs and fees for universal pilot badges for airports in the State; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is requested to submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2020; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Transportation.
