SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT

TO:    HOUSE BILL No.398, H.D. 1, S.D. 1

           SECTION 1.  House Bill No. 398, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, is amended by:

           (1)     Creating a part II to the measure that inserts the language from Senate Bill No. 919, S.D. 2, H.D. 2, that:

                     (A)      Amends the composition of the Board of Regents of the University of Hawaii and reduces the number of board members from fifteen members to eleven members;

                     (B)      Specifies the terms of the holdover board members; and

                     (C)      Specifies that the Board of Regents shall hold the President of the University of Hawaii and university administration accountable for decisions, actions, and leases that incur additional costs to the university;

           (2)     Inserting language specifying that the current members of the Board of Regents of the University of Hawaii shall continue to serve until their terms expire and the transition to the new composition of the Board of Regents shall occur as positions on the Board become vacant;

           (3)     Inserting an effective date of upon approval; and

           (4)     Making technical, nonsubstantive amendments for the purposes of clarity and consistency.
