Status and Testimony

RELATING TO TAXATION.
Amends the general excise tax law by adding a definition for "marketplace provider."  Provides that a person with no physical presence in the State shall be considered to be engaged in business in the State if, in the current or immediately preceding calendar year, the person has gross receipts attributable to transactions in the State totaling $100,000 or more.  Effective 7/1/2035.  (SD1)

Status and Testimony

RELATING TO TOURISM.
Renames the convention center enterprise special fund as the convention center operations and maintenance special fund and repeals the allocation of TAT revenues to that fund, and amends the allowable uses of that fund. Defines administrative expenses as used in section 201B-11(c), HRS, as office equipment, salaries, and supplies.  Redistributes transient accommodations tax revenue from the Hawaii tourism authority to different state agencies for certain purposes.  (SD1)

Status and Testimony

RELATING TO TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.
Clarifies that the transient accommodations tax shall be calculated based on the gross rental.  Specifies that the transient accommodations tax is to be collected from operators or transient accommodations intermediaries that collect whole or partial payment for transient accommodations.  Applies to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2018.  (SD1)
