The purpose of this Informational Briefing is to update the legislature and the public on lessons learned in light of several natural disasters that occurred across the United States and its territory in 2017 including Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and wildfires in California and what the State can implement to further improve its resiliency to disaster.
Invitees include the following individuals and representatives from the appropriate agencies:
· Department of Defense, Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, David Lopez, Critical Systems Planner, or designee
· Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization, Elizabeth Pickett, Executive Director, or designee
· University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources Cooperative Extension, Clay Trauernicht, PhD, Wildland Fire Specialist, or designee
