RELATING TO HEALTH.

Establishes additional mandatory elements to Hawaii's existing sexuality health education law to include general knowledge about sexual abuse and sexual assault, and the prevention, identification, safety resources, and health resources for victims of sexual abuse and sexual assault.

Status

RELATING TO A YOUTH COMMISSION.

Establishes a youth commission within the Office of Youth Services to advise the Governor and Legislature on the effects of legislative policies, needs, assessments, priorities, programs, and budgets relating to youth.  Appropriates funds.

Status

RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES.

Requires operators of child care facilities, including family child care homes, group child care centers, and group child care homes, and infant and toddler child care centers that care for children less than 1 year of age to comply with additional requirements for safe sleep policies to prevent sudden unexpected infant deaths and sudden infant death syndrome in accordance with rules adopted by DHS.

Status

RELATING TO HEALTH.

Requires the Department of Health to consolidate all inspection and licensing activities for certain state-licensed or state-certified facilities into a single office.  Requires employees performing surveys or inspections for licensing or certification to be trained and accredited to inspect and certify all facilities within the office's jurisdiction.

Status

RELATING TO HEALTH.

Requires the executive office on aging to annually update the state plan on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.  Appropriates funds.

Status

RELATING TO HEALTH.

Exempts gross receipts from the sale of diabetic supplies, medical oxygen, human blood and its derivatives, durable medical equipment, and mobility enhancing equipment from the general excise tax.  Expands the scope of prosthetic devices exempted from the general excise tax to include devices worn on the body.

Status

RELATING TO GESTATIONAL SURROGACY.

Provides that gestational surrogacy is permitted only when a contract containing certain terms has been executed between a gestational surrogate and a commissioning couple.

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;

·     The date and time of the hearing; and

·     Measure number. 

 

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
