RELATING TO TAXATION.

Requires marketplace providers to collect general excise and use tax on taxable retail sales that the marketplace provider facilities for marketplace participants to customers after a certain threshold.  Applies to taxable years after December 31, 2016.

RELATING TO TAXATION.

Requires marketplace facilitators, referrers, and remote sellers that meet certain requirements to remit general excise or use taxes or report sales information.  Applies to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2019.

RELATING TO TAXATION.

Amends the formula for the amount of transient accommodations tax collected from time shares by increasing the base on which timeshare occupancy is taxed from one-half of the gross daily maintenance fees paid by the owner and are attributable to the time share unit to an unspecified per cent of the gross daily maintenance fees paid by the owner of the timeshare and are attributable to the time share unit.

RELATING TO TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Clarifies that the transient accommodations tax shall be calculated based on the gross rental price paid by a visitor.  Specifies that the transient accommodations tax is to be collected from operators or transient accommodations intermediaries that collect whole or partial payment for transient accommodations.

RELATING TO TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Ensures the State receives the full amount of transient accommodations tax, calculated based upon the gross rental price paid by a visitor, whether that amount is collected by a local Hawaii operator, travel agent, wholesale travel company, or online by an online travel agency or booking platform.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO WIRELESS BROADBAND FACILITIES.

Establishes a process to upgrade and support next generation wireless broadband infrastructure throughout the State.  Establishes a permitting, application, review, and approval process for wireless service providers to install wireless facilities on state or county owned utility poles, or install associated utility poles, in the right of way.  Applies to permit applications filed with the State or county after 12/31/2018.
