RELATING TO EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS.

Establishes the safe keiki grant program to award funds to qualified DOE schools to purchase supplies for students to remain at school shelters for 48 hours in the event of an emergency.  Appropriates funds.  (HB2238 HD1)

RELATING TO DISASTER PREPAREDNESS.

Establishes a pilot program to retrofit various Department of Education buildings to withstand a category 3 hurricane.  Requires the Department of Education to work in collaboration with the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency.  Appropriates funds.  (HB2196 HD1)
