     Your Committee on Consumer Protection & Commerce, to which was referred H.B. No. 2524, H.D. 1, entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO IN VITRO FERTILIZATION INSURANCE COVERAGE,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to create the in vitro fertilization insurance coverage study group to make recommendations for ensuring all state residents' equitable access to insurance coverage for in vitro fertilization.

 

     The Hawaii Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Hawaii Women Lawyers, Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii, Amnesty International Hawaii Chapter #449, Oahu County Committee on Legislative Priorities of the Democratic Party of Hawaii, Hawaii Women's Coalition, and one concerned individual supported this measure.  Hawaii LGBT Legal Association opposed this measure.  The Hawaii Medical Service Association provided comments.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Consumer Protection & Commerce that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2524, H.D. 1, and recommends that it be referred to your Committee on Finance.
