A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING to renewable energy.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 196, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part II to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§196-    State facilities; renewable energy requirements.  By January 1, 2030, each state department with responsibilities for the design and construction of state buildings and facilities shall have solar power panels installed on every state building.  The comptroller shall ensure that by January 1, 2030, the majority of power used by all state facilities is from renewable energy sources."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
