A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to vehicle weight tax.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 249, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part I to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§249- Exemptions for vehicles modified for Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility. All vehicles that have been modified to meet specific accessibility needs of persons under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, shall be exempt from any imposition of tax provided for in this part. This exemption shall not extend to vehicles used for commercial purposes."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2019.
