A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE TENTH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $44,425,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2018–2019 for the purpose of financing capital improvement projects for the tenth representative district, as follows:

1.   To be expended by the department of education:

     A.   Lahainaluna high school, Maui

Purchase of five school buses.

                   Total funding                   $   300,000

2.   To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:

     A.   Maalaea small boat harbor, Maui

Plans, design, and construction for pier improvements.

              Plans                               $     1,000

              Design                              $     1,000

              Construction                         $ 3,723,000

                   Total funding                   $ 3,725,000

3.   To be expended by the department of transportation:

     A.   Honoapiilani highway, Maui

Plans, materials, equipment, and construction for an extension of the Lahaina bypass road from north Keawe street to beyond Puukolii road.

                   Total funding                   $40,000,000

4.   To be expended by the University of Hawaii:

     A.   University of Hawaii - Maui College, Maui

Design of a culinary education building.

                   Total funding                   $   400,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation

unencumbered as of June 30, 2020, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2018.
