H.B. NO.

TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE, 2018

STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to interpreter services.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that the deaf and blind task force's monthly meetings often require interpreters.  However, the task force receives no dedicated funding to pay for interpreter services.  In the past, legislators have used a portion of their allowance to offset the cost of these services.

The purpose of this Act is to appropriate moneys for interpreter services to be rendered during the deaf and blind task force's monthly meetings.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 for interpreter services to be rendered during the deaf and blind task force's monthly meetings.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2018.
