A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE LAND USE COMMISSION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 205, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§205-    Monitoring and evaluation; conservation lands.  (a)  The land use commission shall monitor and evaluate the enforcement of laws on conservation lands by the department of land and natural resources.

     (b)  The land use commission shall submit an annual report to the legislature regarding the effectiveness of efforts by the department of land and natural resources to enforce laws regarding conservation land, including, if necessary, any proposed legislation to further the purposes of this section, no later than twenty days prior to the convening of each regular session, beginning with the regular session of 2019."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.

Description:

Requires the Land Use Commission to monitor and evaluate the enforcement of laws on conservation lands by the Department of Land and Natural Resources.  Requires the Land Use Commission to submit an annual report to the Legislature regarding its findings.  (HB2197 HD1)
