A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to lobbyists.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 97, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§97-   Appointment; restricted. No lobbyist, within twelve months after the filing of a notice of termination pursuant to section 97-2, shall be appointed to any position in any department, agency, or bureau, or to any board or commission, or to serve as an officer of the State or any of its political subdivisions in a position that is directly responsible for approval, authorization, or oversight of matters in which the former lobbyist participated as a lobbyist."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
