A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO STREAMS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  (a)  The commission on water resource management shall contract with the United States Geological Survey to conduct a five-year study on streamflows in the State.

     (b)  The commission on water resource management shall submit to the legislature a report of its progress of the study no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular sessions of 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $        or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 for the commission on water resource management to contract with the United States Geological Survey to conduct a study on streamflows in the State.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the commission on water resource management for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2018.
