A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to wages.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 387, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§387- Prevailing
wages for public utility workers; private utility projects. (a)
Every contract for a private utility project shall provide that every employee
of a public utility performing work on the job site shall be paid no less than the
prevailing wages for the employee's classification established by the director
pursuant to section 104-2(b).
(b) For purposes of this section:
"Contract" includes any
agreement, purchase order, or voucher in excess of $2,000.
"Private utility
project" means any construction project:
(1) Not subject to
chapter 104; and
(2) Relating to the
installation, improvement, construction,
or development of infrastructure for gas, electric, steam, water,
communications services, or transportation services.
"Public utility" shall
have the same meaning as in section 269-1."
SECTION 2. This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun before its effective date.
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
