SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT

SECTION 1. House Bill No. 1585, H.D. 1, S.D. 2, is amended by amending section 6, page 5, line 15, to page 6, line 3, to read as follows:
"SECTION 6. All new construction within the Mauna Kea science reserve area is prohibited; provided that "new construction" shall not include the decommissioning of telescopes or activities related to the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of existing telescopes; provided further that this section shall not apply after a proclamation is issued by the governor that the:
(1) Auditor has submitted the report pursuant to part I of this Act;
(2) University of Hawaii has adopted rules pursuant to section 304A-1903, Hawaii Revised Statutes; and
(3) The office of Maunakea management has complied with the requirements established pursuant to section 5 of this Act."
SECTION 2. House Bill No. 1585, H.D. 1, S.D. 2, is amended by amending section 8, page 6, line 11, to read as follows:
"SECTION 8. This Act shall take effect on December 31, 2033."
