NOTICE OF INFORMATIONAL BRIEFING

Hawaii ended 150 years of plantation agriculture with the closure of HC&S in January, and is entering a

new era with a dual focus on renewable energy generation and local food production. Biofuels is at the

intersection between these two trends. What do we want the next 150 years to look like? What do

integrated food and fuel systems look like for Hawaii’s future? How do we manage priorities between

Hawaii’s ambitious 100% renewable electricity goals, diversified agriculture, and economic drivers like

tourism? What under the sun do these entities have in common? Come for townhall style discussion

with practitioners from the field and a visual tour of Hawai’i’s integrated food and fuel potential, and be

prepared to be surprised with new information!
