RELATING TO VACATION RENTALS. Establishes an online vacation rental working group to develop effective data collection methods that can assist state and county governments in monitoring the impact that short-term vacation rentals have on tax collections, housing stock, and the State's brand as a vacation destination; address compliance and enforcement challenges; and create effective proposals to ensure certain housing remains in long-term rental or eligible rental use for a mandatory time period. Appropriates funds for the working group to perform its duties. Effective 7/1/2050. (SD2)

RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX. Repeals the requirement that a certain amount of the allocation of transient accommodations tax revenues to the tourism special fund be used for the development and implementation of initiatives to take advantage of expanded visa programs and increased travel opportunities for international visitors to Hawaii. Increases the allocation to the counties from $93,000,000 to $108,000,000 for fiscal years beginning after 6/30/2017. Effective 7/1/2050. (SD2)

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW
Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony should indicate:

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website. This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
