RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT.

Clarifies the grounds under which an employer may take employment action without committing a discriminatory practice.  Takes effect on 1/1/2018.

RELATING TO SMALL CLAIMS DIVISION OF THE DISTRICT COURT.

Establishes the exclusive jurisdiction of the small claims division of the district court over cases in which the amount claimed is $1,000 or less exclusive of interest and costs.  Expands the small claims division's jurisdiction over personal property cases to include any personal property worth $5,000 or less.

RELATING TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

Requires the attorney general to serve as legal adviser to the board of trustees of the employees' retirement system and repeals the authority of an appointed representative or outside counsel selected by the board to serve as legal advisor.

RELATING TO COVERED OFFENDER REGISTRATION.

Allows the attorney general to disclose confidential covered offender registration information to criminal justice agencies for administration of criminal justice and covered offender registration purposes and to disclose an indication of a covered offender's requirement to register in response to a fingerprint-based state and national criminal history record check conducted pursuant to section 846-2.7, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
