The following measures have been ADDED to the agenda for decision making only: HB967 and HB1320.
RELATING TO EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS. Requires the University of Hawaii at Manoa to provide its nonsupervisory blue collar employees in collective bargaining unit (1) and supervisory blue collar employees in collective bargaining unit (2), or one of their family members, with tuition waivers comparable to the tuition waivers provided to faculty and their family members.

RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION. Establishes a state funds matching grant program for resident undergraduate UH students with financial need and whose parents have not earned a baccalaureate or higher degree.

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII. Prohibits the University of Hawaii board of regents from increasing tuition fees until 2027. Requires the university to report to the legislature regarding tuition increases and the university's repair and maintenance costs.

RELATING TO TAXATION. Provides a state income tax deduction of up to $5,000 per year for student loan interest paid on qualified education loans.

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII PROMISE PROGRAM. Establishes the University of Hawaii Promise Program to provide scholarships for the unmet direct cost needs of qualified students enrolled at a University of Hawaii Community College. Appropriates funds to establish and implement the program.

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII. Appropriates moneys for the University of Hawaii to hire three psychologists and one case manager to provide student mental health services.

RELATING TO POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION. Requires accredited and non-accredited post-secondary educational institutions that are for-profit entities to disclose in print and electronic media and signage that they are for-profit businesses registered in the State.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW
Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony should indicate:
· Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website. This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
