RELATING TO SIDEWALKS. Establishes and funds a two-year pilot school sidewalk maintenance and repair program that requires counties to maintain and repair sidewalks in school zones or other areas of significant school related pedestrian traffic. Requires each county to report on the status of the pilot program.

RELATING TO SCHOOL IMPACT FEES. Exempts affordable housing units, additions to existing dwelling units, accessory dwelling units, and ohana dwelling units from school impact fee requirements.

RELATING TO THE OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN EDUCATION. Appropriates funds for the Office of Hawaiian Education of the Department of Education.

RELATING TO SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH SERVICES. Formally establishes the Hawaii keiki: healthy and ready to learn program within the department of education. Establishes a special fund and appropriates $4,000,000 to expand and sustain the program.

RELATING TO HEAT ABATEMENT. Authorizes the DOE and B&F to borrow moneys from the Hawaii green infrastructure loan program for heat abatement measures at public schools. Appropriates general funds to make an initial repayment to the Hawaii green infrastructure special fund. (HB957 HD1)

RELATING TO COMPOSTING. Authorizes the Department of Agriculture to issue grants to establish a composting grant pilot project in DOE schools. Establishes a composting grant pilot project working group. Requires report to legislature. Appropriates funds. (HB1577 HD1)
