     Your Committee on Veterans, Military, & International Affairs, & Culture and the Arts, to which was referred H.C.R. No. 179 entitled:

"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A TASK FORCE TO PLAN AND COORDINATE THE CELEBRATION OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST ARRIVAL OF JAPANESE EMIGRANTS TO HAWAII,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to recognize and celebrate Hawaii's ethnic diversity and rich multicultural heritage by establishing within the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts a task force to plan and coordinate the celebration of the 150^th anniversary of the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii.

The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts submitted comments.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Veterans, Military, & International Affairs, & Culture and the Arts that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.C.R. No. 179 and recommends that it be referred to your Committee on Finance.
