A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE HIGH TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that the high technology development corporation is a key state agency in developing and supporting the innovation industry in the State.  Last year the legislature appropriated funding for and enacted changes to the small business innovation research program.  The legislature further finds that the continuation of the program is vital to supporting innovation in Hawaii.

     The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds to the small business innovation research program to support continued innovation in the State.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2017-2018 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 to the high technology development corporation to continue the small business innovation research program; provided that the agency shall plan to expend a portion of appropriated funds for phase three grants where applicable.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the high technology development corporation for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
