RELATING TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES. Ensures future ERS benefits for public employees who are terminated from public employment due to the privatization of their positions. (HB2445 HD1)

RELATING TO SEPARATION BENEFITS. Authorizes public employees facing position abolishment, reduction-in-force, or workforce restructuring to opt to receive either voluntary severance benefits or a special retirement benefit in lieu of exercising any reduction-in-force rights. (HB2446 HD2)

RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM. Establishes a retirement benefit incentive for public employees, otherwise eligible to retire, whose positions are subject to layoff due to the consolidation or abolition of functions, or the privatization of the functions of the position as a result of Act 103 (2015). RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT SECURITY. Increases maximum potential unemployment benefits for employees separated from service from 26 to 39 times the individual's weekly benefit amount commencing on or after March 7, 2016. Requires terminated or laid off Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company workers to complete a training or retraining program to receive the maximum potential benefits. (HB2122 HD2)

RELATING TO UNEMPLOYMENT. Creates a temporary program providing additional benefits to unemployed workers by extending their unemployment insurance benefits. Makes an appropriation. (HB2722 HD1)

RELATING TO THE DISABILITY COMPENSATION DIVISION. Appropriates funds for the hiring of six identified hearings officer positions and support staff within the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations' Disability Compensation Division and to provide the officers and staff with legal and medical training.
