Requires UH to train employees and students on sexual harassment policies, appoint a campus advocate at each campus for students to discuss incidents of sexual harassment, report sexual assault cases to the police, and conduct a campus climate survey.  Prohibits romantic relationships between a UH student and a UH faculty member.

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Appropriates moneys for the University of Hawaii to hire six additional staff attorneys.

Provides that a student in the University of Hawaii system pursuing an undergraduate degree may only be eligible for resident tuition fees for up to one hundred forty credit hours.

Requires funds appropriated to the University of Hawaii for a specific purpose to be expended for that specific purpose.  Requires a report that explains to the legislature any nonconformity with the previous requirement.  Requires unexpended funds to be returned to the general fund.

Status

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Appropriates general funds for 4.0 FTE positions for the UH Pamantasan Council to promote access and diversity, including for programs and policies related to Philippine courses and Filipino students.

RELATING TO COLLEGE SAVINGS PROGRAM TAX DEDUCTION.

Provides an annual maximum deduction of $5,000 per individual or $10,000 for a married couple filing jointly for contributions made to the Hawaii college savings program.

RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION.

Establishes a state funds matching grant program for resident undergraduate UH students with financial need and whose parents have not earned a baccalaureate or higher degree.

Clarifies that under the Hawaii Post-Secondary Education Authorization Program, when an institution ceases to operate, the student transcripts will be kept permanently in a form prescribed by the director and other records requested and obtained by DCCA may be disposed of at the director's discretion.

Status

RELATING TO THE JOHN A. BURNS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE SPECIAL FUND.

Permits moneys in the John A. Burns school of medicine special fund to be used for loan repayment for certain health care professionals.  Removes the cap on expenditures from the special fund.  Removes the sunset date from the physician workforce assessment fee and related requirements for use of moneys in the John A. Burns school of medicine special fund.

Status

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Prohibits the University of Hawaii from transferring moneys from its special and revolving funds, or general funds appropriated for other purposes, for the purpose of funding construction projects that are not explicitly authorized by the legislature.
