RELATING TO SPORTS MEDICINE.

Allows visiting licensed physicians traveling with a sports team or national sport governing body to provide medical treatment to team members and coaching staff under certain conditions without a Hawaii license to practice medicine.

RELATED TO LICENSED MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPISTS.

Amends numerous Hawaii Revised Statutes sections to add the word "licensed" before the term "marriage and family therapist" to clarify those sections.

Clarifies requirements for licensure as a dental hygienist.  Prohibits dental assistants from performing certain intra-oral functions and related activities.

Requires the department of health to conduct unannounced visits and relicensing inspections for state-licensed care facilities and medical marijuana dispensaries.

RELATING TO BOARD MEMBER TERMS FOR THE BOARD OF NURSING AND THE BOARD OF SPEECH PATHOLOGY AND AUDIOLOGY.

Amends the board member terms in sections 457-3 and 468E-6(c), Hawaii Revised Statutes, from three years to four years to align the terms of members of the Board of Nursing and the Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology with the terms of members of the other twenty-three boards and commissions under the Professional and Vocational Licensing Division of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

RELATING TO NURSING.

Allows the Board of Nursing to more fully participate in Nursys, a national database for nurse licensees by sharing license and disciplinary action information.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO CERTIFIED NURSE AIDES.

Repeals section 346-47 and amends sections 457A-1.5, 457A-2, and 457A-3, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to delete references to the Department of Human Services as licensing or certifying health care settings; and deletes references to the Department of Human Services investigating and disciplining certified nurse aides employed in health care settings.

RELATING TO PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS.

Clarifies powers of physician assistants regarding nurses under chapter regulating physicians.  Removes sunset date of Act 255, SLH 2012.

RELATING TO PRESCRIPTION DRUG BENEFITS.

Authorizes a beneficiary of a prescription drug benefit plan to obtain a prescription without penalty from a non-network retail community pharmacy located within ten miles of the beneficiary's residence, if the nearest network retail community pharmacy is located over ten miles away.

RELATING TO SOCIAL WORKERS.

Clarifies the supervision requirements for licensure of clinical social workers, including permitting the supervision requirements to be met through face-to-face supervision or via a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act-certified video conferencing service.
