A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the tenth senatorial district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $2,793,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2016-2017 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the tenth senatorial district, as follows:
1. Kuhio elementary school
Construction of two hundred linear-foot wall; installation of new fence on top of the wall.
Construction $300,000
Design $100,000
Total funding $400,000
2. Kaimuki high school
Purchase and installation of air conditioning units for four classrooms for medically fragile students.
Total funding $25,000
3. Kaimuki middle school
Construction of three walkways: one hundred yards from the front office to building G; one hundred fifty yards from building L to building Q; and twenty-five yards from building J to the cafeteria
Total funding $300,000
4. Jarrett middle school
Construction of 1,550 square foot concrete sidewalk from D building to back driveway.
Total funding $18,000
5. Ala Wai elementary school
Design and construction of play area, including resurfacing of basketball court and addition of a covered shelter for part of the play area.
Total funding $1,500,000
6. Jefferson elementary school
Plans, design, and construction of Waikiki Cultural Museum on school grounds
Total funding $550,000
SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement project authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2018, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2016.
