A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to constitutional amendments.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to address state constitutional amendments.
More specifically, this Act appropriates moneys for the duties needed to be undertaken to enable the people to vote at the 2016 general election on amendments to the Hawaii State Constitution proposed by the legislature.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2016-2017 to fund duties necessary to enable the people to vote at the 2016 general election on Hawaii state constitutional amendments proposed by the legislature during the regular sessions of 2015 and 2016.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the office of elections for the purposes of this section.
SECTION 3. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2016-2017 for the printing of the ballot questions for Hawaii state constitutional amendments proposed by the legislature during the regular sessions of 2015 and 2016 and placed before the people at the 2016 general election.
Of the sum appropriated:
(1) $ shall be expended by the senate for the purposes of this section; and
(2) $ shall be expended by the house of representatives for the purposes of this section.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2016.
