HOUSE RESOLUTION
IOLANI SCHOOL VARSITY BOYS WRESTLING TEAM 2016 STATE CHAMPIONs.
WHEREAS, the IOLANI SCHOOL VARSITY BOYS WRESTLING TEAM won the 2016 Hawaii High School State Athletic Association championship with a combined score of 166; and
WHEREAS, their success is attributed to the efforts of the entire program, including team members in all weight classes and all skill levels; and
WHEREAS, the team benefitted from a great support network of dedicated parents, coaches, alumni, the school administration, and the community; and
WHEREAS, the boys wrestling team won both the Interscholastic League of Honolulu and the Hawaii High School State Athletic Association championships, something not accomplished in over a decade; and
WHEREAS, the IOLANI SCHOOL VARSITY BOYS WRESTLING TEAM, which is comprised of team captains Jake Nakasone, James Mizota, and KJ Pascua, and team members Kainoa Torigoe, Ka‘ua Nishigaya, Colby Watase, Hunter Fujiwara, Jake Angelo, Kaysen Takenaka, Isaac Anderson, Akihiro Iwakiri, Sai Fautanu, Hunter Kam, Charles Kam, Ta‘aga Tuulima, and Dane Yamashiro, is a shining example of what can be achieved through hard work and placing the good of the team before the individual in following the school motto of "One Team"; and
WHEREAS, the IOLANI SCHOOL VARSITY BOYS WRESTLING TEAM was coached by head coach Walden Au, and coaches Brent Kakesako, Jeremy Niwa, Brad Takenaka, Keiko Akamine, Ryan Hamaguchi, Ryan Honbo, Zach Matayoshi, Dan Nishita, Ian Akamine, Darryl Teruya, Trenton Teruya, Andrew Chung, Tomo Hirai, Elmer Parwani, Keala Shiigi, and Jenna Tamashiro, and Athletic Director Maurice Maggiolino; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2016, that this body congratulates the IOLANI SCHOOL VARSITY BOYS WRESTLING TEAM on winning the 2016 Hawaii High School State Athletic Association Boys Wrestling Championship, and extends to the team its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success.
