The purpose of this informational briefing is to receive an overview of the State Office of Planning and an update of its major projects.

 

The State of Hawaii, Office of Planning, gathers, analyzes, and provides information to the Governor to assist in the overall analysis and formulation of state policies and strategies. The purpose of the Office is to (1) provide central direction and cohesion in the allocation of resources and effectuation of state activities and programs, and (2) effectively address current or emerging issues and opportunities. The Office works closely with local, state, and federal government agencies; the University of Hawaii; and various community stakeholders to achieve these objectives. The Office is divided into the Land Use Division and Planning Division. The Planning Division includes the Coastal Zone Management Program, Special Plans Branch, and the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Program.
