The purpose of this informational briefing is to provide information to the Committees and to the public regarding the current activities of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program in the State of Hawaii, and it will provide an opportunity for public comment and discussion regarding the CSBG program.
The CSBG program provides major financial support to the four Community Action Agencies in the State of Hawaii for their programs to alleviate the causes and consequences of poverty.
At the present time, the Hawaii State Office of Community Services (OCS) has prepared for public review and comment its Hawaii State Application and Plan for Community Services Block Grants for federal fiscal years 2015 and 2016 (Oct. 1, 2014 through September 30, 2016) pursuant to Section 676(b) of the federal Community Services Block Grant Act, Public Law 105-285.
The State application and Plan for CSBG funding is available for public inspection at the website of the Hawaii State Office of Community Services (OCS) at www.labor.hawaii.gov/ocs/. Copies are also available at the offices of the four Community Action Agencies in the State of Hawaii:
