|
RELATING TO JURY TRIAL. Increases the threshold value in controversy requirement for jury trials in civil cases at common law in the circuit court from $5,000 to $10,000.

RELATING TO DISTRICT COURT JURISDICTION. Increases the maximum claim amount that determines district court jurisdiction in civil cases from $25,000 to $40,000.

RELATING TO LIABILITY. Makes permanent the liability protections for the actions of county lifeguards.

RELATING TO PUBLIC LAND LIABILITY. Proposed HD1: Makes permanent liability protections for warning signs for outdoor recreation on public lands. Expands notification requirements to include dangerous non-natural conditions on unimproved public lands. Effective June 29, 2014.

RELATING TO THE COMPENSATION OF TRUSTEES. Proposed HD1: Clarifies and updates trustee compensation by setting out several categories of fees to which trustees are entitled. Effective January 1, 2015.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW
Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony should indicate:
· Testifier's name with position/title and organization;
· The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;
· The date and time of the hearing; and
· Measure number.
While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website. This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony. Those wishing to provide oral testimony will be limited to two minutes.
